Abstract topics have been confirmed as:

  • Health services and policy
  • Clinical
  • Research and innovation
  • Education, training and medical professionalism
  • Quality improvement and patient safety

Abstract prizes:

  • the presenter of the winning abstract will receive £1,000.
  • the two presenters who are runners up will both receive £500 each.
  • all three successful abstracts will be published in the RCP journals, as well as being featured on the RCP’s main website.
  • presenters of all three successful abstracts will each receive two tickets for the Harveian Oration and dinner, Tuesday 15 October 2019.

Abstract reviewing:

Abstracts will be peer-reviewed through a ‘blind’ reviewing process, and authors will be notified of the outcome of review by the end of March 2019.

If successful, the authors will be expected to publish their abstract in paper poster format, and then one author per poster must present at the conference. The three winning entries will be announced at the conference.

Abstracts will be scored out of 5 against each the following criteria:

  • impact
  • quality of evidence
  • originality of research
  • relevance to clinical practice
  • quality of presentation

Presentation and publishing:

All accepted abstracts must be presented at the conference (at an attended poster session). There will only be one presenter per poster, regardless of how many authors have contributed to the abstract.

Taking into account delegate feedback, abstracts will be showcased as traditional paper posters. At least one member of the team submitting the abstract will be expected to register and pay as a full delegate, and we recommend this is the presenter.

By submitting an abstract, all authors are agreeing to publication.
